CV & Drive Axle Service in Lubbock, TX
If you turn down your radio and suddenly become aware of rattling and scraping coming from underneath your car, truck or SUV, it might be a driveline problem.
Your vehicle's driveline – also called the powertrain or drivetrain – consists of the components between the transmission and differential. This includes important parts like axles, driveshafts, CV joints, transfer cases and wheel hubs. Together, this system transmits power from the car engine and delivers proper torque to the wheels. If these components go out of balance, your driveshaft can vibrate excessively. A shaking car is not only jarring to you and your passengers, but leads to accelerated wear on other driveline components. As per the domino effect, other systems of your car will also be affected.
Fix Vibrations with Driveline Repair
Clunks, squeaks, grinding or metal-on-metal sounds? Notice your car vibrating as you cruise down the highway? It’s time to get a checkup. The sound could happen on automatic and manual cars when shifting gears. Or if you see puddles under your car when parked, it could be leaking transmission fluid – another driveline problem. It's possible the vibration is caused by out of balance wheels. Fortunately, McWhorter's provides both services and can properly diagnose the problem.
Often the repair is just a failing or broken universal joint (U-joint or CV-joint), which is an easy fix. But if it’s something more, no problem. At McWhorter’s, our experienced mechanics can handle everything from minor to comprehensive driveshaft repairs.
